VX18984 Les Cook
Craig Iskov, with his son Richard, recently visited 102 year old, Les Cook and found him in fine form.
Les recounted some of the events during the Shaggy Ridge campaign and recited from memory, a poem giving a soldier’s satirical perspective of wartime Minister for the Army, “Fearless” Frank Forde, who was renowned for his long winded speeches.

Les continues to enjoy working in his garden and was delighted to share his vegetable patch with Richard.

VX92324 Max Caldwell
In January, a small group that included the current Association president and two former presidents, visited Max Caldwell at his care facility in Blackburn, Victoria.

Michael Ralston, Max Caldwell, Craig Iskov, with Jill Bear, in January.
We were delighted to see that Max is very well looked after and each of us enjoyed some few minutes of conversation with Max before he showed us his room, with its beautiful view of trees and lawn.

Jill Bear and Max share some memories.
We will return in April to help Max celebrate his 100th birthday.
